The evidence · invention history

Porpoise

Several independently useful AI stances existed before I could see the unnamed category they shared.

Instances → category

  1. Ding 💡

    George Mode

“What if we came up with a George Mode that I can invoke every so often?”
  2. Form

    Curious George

A temporary stance that asks and pokes at adjacent ideas until I reach a eureka moment.

  3. Form

    More useful instances

Devil’s George stress-tests. Gossip George XOXO supports storytelling. Panic Room George uses different persuasion rules.

  4. Collision

    The instances become comparable

Each works independently. Comparison exposes a shared behavior: changing the kind of attention an AI brings.

  5. Ding 💡

    The category becomes visible

“Portable behavioral specifications that change the kind of attention an AI brings to a conversation.”
  6. Form

    Porpoise

Portable behavioral specifications for AI assistants, usable inside ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other existing tools.

  7. Field

A named category with growing instances

Porpoise now exists as a product concept and a growing set of reusable stances. YAML came later as a cleaner implementation format.

What this path showed: Sometimes the examples exist before I realize they belong to a category without a name. YAML came later; it was not part of the original invention.
